General Terms and Conditions

Article 1. Applicability

These general terms and conditions apply to the OSCU Events with regard to the registration and participation in a given Event.

  1. Deviations from and/or additions to these General Terms and Conditions are only valid to the extent that they have been agreed upon in writing.
  2. Any general terms and conditions of an Event participant are expressly rejected.
  3. If at any time any of the provisions of these General Terms and Conditions should be wholly or partially void or voided, the remaining provisions of these General Terms and Conditions shall continue to apply in full.

Article 2. Definitions

  1. OSCU: the Open Science Community Utrecht.
  2. The participant: the individual participant of an OSCU Event, who will be referred to hereafter in the masculine singular.
  3. The Event: an event, for example (but not limited to) OSCoffee, symposia, cafĂ©’s, et cetera, organized by OSCU in either digital, hybrid, or solely ‘live’ form.
  4. Registration: the participant’s acceptance of the OSCU’s offer of participation in the Event by means of registration on the website.

Article 3. Event registrations

  1. By registering you give your express consent to the processing and maintenance of the data entered on the registration form.
  2. We will process this data with the utmost care and not make it available to third parties.
  3. The data will only be used for the organization and descriptive statistics about the visitors of the symposium.
  4. We will delete the data you submitted within 2 weeks after the symposium.
  5. At any moment in time you can contact us (openscience.utrecht@gmail.com) to request a copy of your data we collected, and/or have us edit or remove your data.

Article 4. Cancellations

  1. Cancellation of the registration may be done at any moment prior to the Event by means of a written notification to OSCU.
  2. OSCU reserves the right to cancel an Event at any moment at its discretion, in which case the participant will be notified as soon as possible.

Article 5. Liability

  1. OSCU excludes all liability for the non-participation of an Event or the change of date or time of an Event.
  2. OSCU excludes any liability, however named, for loss resulting from registration or participation in an Event.
  3. This limitation of liability shall not apply if there is intent or gross negligence on the part of the Foundation.
  4. OSCU accepts no liability for errors made by third parties engaged on behalf of the participant, such as but not limited to the registration office, sponsors, speakers, legal and factual management of an Event venue.
  5. If the OSCU suffers damage as a result of an act or omission on the part of the participant, the participant shall be liable for the damage caused by this and the OSCU shall recover this damage from the participant. The participant hereby indemnifies the OSCU for all claims as referred to above.

Article 6. Applicable law and disputes

  1. The legal relationship between OSCU and the participant is exclusively governed by Dutch law.
